February 10, 2024 Meeting minutes
Date: Saturday, February 10, 2024

Meeting: NJSSA Officers Meeting

Time: 9:45 AM

Attendees: Ed Amaty - Howie Mann - Mason Palidar - Ben Galioto - Tom Surman - Dick Lukasik - James Garrett - Kevin Dawkins

Treasurers Report: $6,186.32

Agenda Items:

State Shoot Program Revenue: As of 2/10/24 we have raised $650.00

2024 NJ State Shoot Prizes (resident only): It was agreed to that Ben Galioto would contact legendary duck carver Bill Schauber for prices on 7 decoys.

2024 NJ State Shoot Entry fees & added money: There was a lively debate regarding entry fees and added money. Dick Lukasik, Tom Surman and Mason Palidar were passionate about lowering the entry fees for NJ shooters and felt that some concessions could be made to lower the cost per gun for 2024. Ben Galioto felt that lowering the entry fees and reducing the added money was ill advised and provided the attendees a detailed report documenting what neighboring states like Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New York charge for entry fees and what they offer as added money. Ben’s report proved that New Jersey’s entry fees are a bargain and the added money ranked dead last among neighboring states. Both Ben and Howie Mann felt that the entry fees should increase to $55 per gun and the added money should be increased as well for 2024. Your NJSSA President Ed Amaty was able to find some common ground and brokered a truce where fees and the added money would remain the same as in 2023. All parties agreed.

Cost of shoot administrator: We tentatively agreed to pay Kevin Dawkins $500 to run the 2024 New Jersey Skeet Championships. For now, Kevin was not sure if he will be able to run our shoot. He did promise to give us an answer sometime this spring.

State Shoot T-Shirts and Patches: Fellow officer Howie Mann was generous enough to once again donate patches and pay for 50% of our T-Shirts.
