2022 Garden State Open “lite”
On Saturday, May 14, 2022 Joint Base hosted the Garden State Open. We had a total of 20 shooters come and participate.

It was a rainy cool Saturday, but the weather let up just a bit and just in time for Ben Galioto to shoot a 99 and take the 20 gauge title. Mike Calise and Kenny Brown, both with 97's, made their way to the shoot-off field, and after a couple of stations, Mike claimed A1. Bruce Gordon looked very impressive by smoking 98 targets to win B1 and Greg Khalaf broke a nice 93 to win C1. Andrew LaGrasse won his shoot-off against Rita Attard to claim D1. Way to go Andrew!

During the 28 gauge event, the rain came down even harder, but this did not stop Peconic River shooter Mike Calise, who broke a solid 98 to claim the 28 gauge title. Nice shooting Mike! Ben Galioto had to bear down to win A1 with a 97 and Brian Ziegler took B1 with a 95. Neil Alexander had a fantastic day by breaking back to back 96's!! Neil won C1 in the 28ga. A determined Howie Mann shot a 92 to win D1.

How about them referees!! In driving rain and cool temperatures Mark Bricker, Sophia Galioto and Ed Amaty were perfect on the button all day!! We are fortunate to have such great referees at Joint Base.

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who came out and shot on May 14 in less than ideal weather conditions. Your support of NJ Skeet is very much appreciated.

The Risen Star, scheduled for Saturday, June 18 is full at this time. However, if we are able to get 10 more shooters, both Ed Amaty and I will work on securing another referee. If you haven't already signed up and are interested in shooting, please make sure to get your name on the waiting list.
