2021 Oktoberfest Doubles & 12 Gauge
On October 9th we hosted the Oktoberfest Doubles and 12 gauge event. The first event was doubles, and as usual, the weather gods made sure the wind was blowing hard. The defending doubles state champion Ben Galioto was able to keep his composure and shoot a 94 to win the Championship. Mason Palidar broke an 88 to take A class. Dick Lukasik's 90 was good enough to keep 7 other shooters at bay in B class. Joe Madlinger’s 89 was strong enough to win C class and Andrew Harman nailed down D class with a 77.

On Saturday afternoon, Paul Billings and Robert Nowak both broke 99's in the 12 gauge event. The stage was set as both shooters made their way to the stadium field for a shoot-off. After 2 stations, Paul Billings broke a very difficult pair to claim the title. Ben Galioto claimed AA1 with a 96. Your A class winner was Jonathan Thiessen with a 93. Robert Nowak took B1 with his 99. David Collins hammered a 96 to win C class and Ralph Novotny shot a nice 88 to claim D class. After a ten year layoff Al DiGangi came out of retirement to win E class with an 82. Welcome back Al!

I would like to acknowledge NY shooter Robert Nowak for his generosity and commitment to New Jersey Skeet. Robert donated two beautiful Oktoberfest mugs and added $50 to each event champion. As a result, each event Champion received a Mug and $100 in added money. Thank you Robert!

This was the last shoot of a very successful 2021 registered skeet season at Joint Base. I would like to thank all of our in-state residents who came out and supported registered skeet. I would also like to thank all of our non-resident shooters for driving quite a distance and supporting skeet in NJ. A shout out to our referees Sophia Galioto and Ed Amaty for doing an outstanding job on the button.

Finally, a special thank you goes to our Joint Base team, James Garrett, Al Raguseo and John Creamer for making sure that the fields were prepped and the targets were set and ready to go. Thank you gentlemen!
