| Ricky Bags the Devil By Meryl Boyd The weekend of July 14th Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club in Jackson, NJ, welcomed back the Jersey Devil. The 4-gun 2-day event was the second of its kind at CJ. With all 77 guns hitting the field with a weekend of shooting worthy weather, the championship was close til the end. Last years Devil Champ Jim Hilton returned and started the shoot off winning the 28 gauge with the weekends only perfect score. Wayne Davis, making his CJ debut, was AA1 with a near perfect 99. Rick Bagni led off his shoot with a 98 and an A class win. B class was headed by Andrew Harmans 97. Jr. shooter Jon Warhol shot a 96 to win C class and San Zimmerman was best in D class. The 20-gauge gun champ had to be shot off between Hilton and Bagni, both shooting a 99. The day was split and Bagni took the 20 gauge title. Hilton placed AA1 and Jr. Kevin McEnroy shot a 96 to win A class. Greg Khalfs 96 won him B class and Marvin Bradford shot well on the weekend winning his D class with a 95. Shooting in his third competition was Roy Jablonski with his first class win in D class. With 3 birds between them, Bagni and Hilton were going head to head on Sunday for the championship. Day 2s first gun, .410 went to Bagni with a 96. Bill Kunie took A class and Ed Amaty made a come back the second day with a B class win. Andrew Harman won C class and Zimmerman won his D class again. Bagni had a bit of breathing room going into the 12 gauge but anything can happen. John Nichols matched Hiltons 97 in the 12 gauge and met on the shoot off field. After an exciting shoot off Hilton came out the winner of the gun. Bagni retained his lead with a 96 in an AA1 class win. Davis took his A class and Nichols was B1. Ed Whitman made the top of C class and making her CJ debut was Jessica Miserndino placing C2. Bradford once again topped D class and Carol Abernathy was E1. A new Jersey Devil Champ was crowned in the name of Rick Bagni. Last years champ, Hilton was A1. B class was all Kunies. Ed Whitman was C1, Bradford was D1 and Abernathy was E1. Central Jersey would like to welcome Ladys Champ and Jr. Champ Tiffany Davis. This marked her first 4-gun shoot with many more to come. Veteran Woody Schuck and Mike McEnroy also came down to CJ for their first time. Also congrates to Rita Attard in shooting her first 28-gauge event.
